From an empty shelf to a day you can explain

Add what you take, log the day you mean, and read the total. A reminder never writes the log for you.

Three amber supplement bottles, a glass of water, and a phone with a green mark on a wooden kitchen counter beside a kettle

You already know the bottles. The multivitamin by the kettle. The vitamin D you started when the evenings got dark. The magnesium that is a nightly habit, except on the nights it is not. VitaSum® is the record of that counter. It is not a second opinion about it.

The loop is short. Add a product once. Log it on the days you take it. Read the totals. When you want someone else to see the same picture, send a report. Nothing in that loop tells you what to start, what to stop, or what to change.

Set the account to the person the numbers belong to

Create an account with your name, email, password, date of birth, and gender. The password needs at least 10 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol. Enter the code from the email, then accept the privacy and health-data consents. The app cannot store the log without them.

Daily goals and upper limits follow the country, gender, and life stage on the profile. VitaSum reads the region in your phone's language and asks you to confirm it after the short tour. English (United Kingdom) is saved as the United Kingdom. A language with no country attached, such as plain English, leaves the country unset, and the goals stay on the United States and Canada figures until you choose one.

If the guess is wrong, fix it before you start comparing numbers. Open Account, then Edit profile, tap Country, and save. The amounts you logged stay the same. The goals and upper limits they are compared with change. Each person in a household has their own country.

Put the real bottles on My Shelf

Today stays empty until My Shelf has something on it. Tap Add a supplement, or the + on My Shelf.

You can scan the barcode, search by brand or product name, or photograph the label when the product is missing. A photograph of the Supplement Facts panel, plus the name, serving, and ingredients, puts that bottle on your shelf immediately. You can log from what you entered while a catalog request is reviewed. Account, then Product requests, shows where that request stands. Review only makes the listing visible to other people. You get an email and an in-app notice when it is public.

A scan looks up a code. Codes get reused, and a warehouse barcode is often a different thing from the retail UPC on a store bottle. VitaSum asks whether the match is the bottle in your hand. Check the name and the brand. If it is a different bottle, photograph the panel. If the bottle is right and one amount is wrong, correct that nutrient from the label. You confirm each one.

Then set what you actually take. Edit dosage is the amount and the schedule: every day, every other day, specific days, a cycle, or as needed. The label serving is the reference for the numbers printed on the panel. It is the amount those numbers describe. If the label says 2 capsules and you take 1, enter 1 capsule. The totals count half. If the label says 120 mg per capsule and you take 2, Today counts 240 mg. Save the dosage. That amount is what Today and the report use. A tablet does not scale against a capsule, so keep the unit the bottle uses.

Something you take only in one season can be paused. On My Shelf, tap the pause icon, or open the product and tap Not taking this right now. It leaves Quick Log. Reminders for it stop. Past logs stay on the days you already recorded, and the dosage stays saved under Not taking right now. Tap Start again when you want it back. A paused supplement does not count toward the free shelf of five. Peptides cannot be paused.

Peptides stay on their own list

My Shelf has a Peptides switch. Patch formulas sit under Transdermal, inside that list. Tap +, find the name, and enter what you take. VitaSum does not suggest a dose. Amounts on a component list, such as milligrams on a patch, are the label reference.

You can also record where you got it and the route you use. Source is the channel, such as a pharmacy, a compounding pharmacy, a clinic, or a research supplier. Route is how you take it. Both are labels on your log. A catalog entry is not a statement about safety, effectiveness, or legal status.

If a compound is not listed, add a custom one from peptide search. Include at least one photo of the vial or label. That entry stays private to your account.

Log the day you mean

Stay on Today. The date strip is the day the log belongs to. Swipe it when you are recording yesterday, or a morning you missed.

Quick Log lists what is due on that date. An every-other-day product, or one set to certain weekdays, appears on the days it is due. Tap Log for one item, or Log all due today for everything still open. The number on that button is how many are still due. If you logged the set and skipped one, open Logged and tap minus. VitaSum asks before it removes that one. The others stay.

Open a product on the shelf and tap Add to Today when you took an extra serving. Each tap adds one for today.

A reminder is a nudge. Open Account, then Reminders, turn on Daily reminders, and set a time. Products that share a time send one notification. The alert never writes the log. You still decide what was taken. An optional Sunday 9:00 a.m. digest invites you to review the week. It arrives only while daily reminders are on, and it is a check-in, separate from a dose alert. Peptides are left out of reminders. Alerts stay on this phone.

For a month at a glance, open Account, then Diary.

Read the totals

Open Nutrients after you log. Your total is what you logged that day. A bottle that is only sitting on the shelf does not count.

On a paid plan, each row also shows the daily goal and the upper limit for your profile, and you can open a nutrient to see which products made the total. The free plan shows the combined total. The goal, the upper limit, and the breakdown by product are on a paid plan.

The row uses four words:

  • Low is under the daily goal.
  • At goal is in range.
  • Above goal is past the goal and still under the upper limit.
  • Over limit appears when a total reaches the upper limit.

Yellow, green, purple, then red. Red is reserved for the limit. A total can sit well above the goal and still be under the limit. Above the goal is its own status. It is not a mark that you are nearing the ceiling.

The daily goal is the published reference for your gender and life stage: a Recommended Dietary Allowance, or the closest published target. The upper limit is the tolerable upper intake level, where a publisher has set one. On Nutrients, the goal names the group those figures belong to. These numbers describe the log. They are not a personal prescription, and they do not account for medical conditions or medications.

Food is part of the comparison only where the reference is built that way. Calcium, magnesium, and potassium goals include food, so a supplement-only total below that goal is not marked low. Magnesium can still show Over limit when the supplement total reaches its upper limit, because that ceiling applies to magnesium from supplements.

A figure the reference set does not publish stays blank. VitaSum does not fill it with another country's number. Goals, the flag in the tab bar, keeps streaks and longer targets. Colors and streaks are tracking cues from your logs.

If a number looks wrong, check the date, the servings for that day, and the amount you take against the label serving. Pull to refresh if a list looks stale after you log.

Send the page you would want in the room

On a paid plan, open Share with provider from Today. Pick a day, 7 days, 30 days, 3 months, 6 months, or a custom range up to about six months. Email the PDF to an address you type, or download it. A report longer than one day uses average daily intake. You choose the recipient.

Consumer PDFs include a watermark. Family and Professional PDFs are clean. The Professional plan can also export a FHIR R4 file, for a system that accepts that format. You can save the file, send it to destinations saved under Account, then FHIR destinations, or both. Research compounds are included only when Include in FHIR export is on for that item.

The PDF uses the same country reference set as Nutrients, and it names the publisher. Send it only to someone you trust. Your provider decides what belongs in their chart. VitaSum is your log.

When more than one person is involved

A Family or Professional plan can hold five seats: you, and up to four people you invite. Open Account, then Family, name the group, and send an invite. They receive a short code and a link. They sign in with the same email the invite used. They do not need their own paid plan.

Each person keeps a separate account, shelf, and log. Joining shares a seat. It does not copy their bottles onto yours.

Opening someone else's record takes two choices. Each of you picks Off, View, or Manage, and the lower one applies. The record stays closed until both sides allow it. View lets the admin look at that person's shelf, log, and nutrients. Manage also lets the admin log, edit, and share a provider report for them. Either person can set the choice back to Off. A banner on Today names whose record is open. Tap You to return to your own. Reminders stay on the phone of the person who turned them on.

A few settings that keep the log yours

Account, then Security, can require a 4-digit PIN when you reopen the app. If the phone has Face ID or a fingerprint, that can stand in for the PIN. Signing in with biometrics is a separate switch. It only skips the password on the sign-in screen.

The free plan holds five items on My Shelf. Supplements and peptides count together. Paid plans remove that limit and add the full nutrient comparison and provider reports. Every paid plan includes a one-month trial through the App Store or Google Play. The price on the store sheet is the price after the trial. Cancel or change a paid plan in the store. Account, then Manage subscription, opens the right page. Deleting a VitaSum account removes the profile, the shelf, and the logs. It does not cancel the store subscription.

Help is the ? on Today. The tour can be replayed from Help or from Account. Product and account questions go to www.vitasum.health/contact. That page is for the product. It is not for a health emergency.

The bottom line

Add the bottle once. Set the amount you take. Log the day you actually took it. Read the total that no single label can show, and send that page when you want a clinician to see the same thing.

The figures describe the log. A daily goal is not a personal prescription, and VitaSum® is not a medical device.
